Window Sash Repairs

The sash is an interior frame that can move up and down vertically in windows that open. This article will show you how to make several simple repairs to sash.

Weather Stripping

Wood window sashes add a classic aesthetic to your home. When properly maintained, they can last for a long time. However, they may become damaged or deteriorate as time passes because of exposure to the elements and wear and tear. The first step to repair sash window damage is to fix weather stripping, which is found on both the sash as well as the frame. It could cause drafts if worn or loose. This will allow you to get the channel back in the correct position after you've finished. Remove the sash and remove the hardware, including the parting beads (Photo 2) and the cords or chains which hold it in place. Sash Weights

Sash weights can be replaced to enhance the efficiency of your window sash and reduce the cost of energy.
